KAHAROA SCHOOL ENROLMENTSThe Board invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their sons and daughters at Kaharoa School for Term 4 2010.
Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available from the school office.
This enrolment period runs from 25 September 2010 to 16 December 2010
The Board has determined the following places are likely to be available for out of zone students in this enrolment period.
6 places for 5 year olds and those turning 5 between 25 September 2010 to 16 December 2010
The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
The deadline for receipt of applications for out of zone places is Friday 1 September 2010
Written applications to The Board of Trustees for out of zone places stating child’s name, date of birth, address and phone number should be posted to Kaharoa School, R.D.2 Rotorua or dropped into the school office.
If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required it will be held on Monday 4 September 2010
Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.
If you live in the home zone and have not yet signalled your intention to enrol your child later this year, please contact the school immediately to assist us to plan appropriately.

Kaharoa School is a full primary school located 20 minutes north of Rotorua in a pleasant rural environment.
The school's popularity and strong community growth saw the need for a Ministry of Education enrolment scheme in 2001 to control growth. The 200 plus children and the staff at our Decile 9 school are extremely fortunate to be in an environment that enjoys strong parental and community support and involvement. This support in many respects defines all that is good about Kaharoa School and is something that we nurture and work at to retain. The school is the ideal size, large enough to offer a range of sporting, technological and artistic pursuits, yet small enough to retain the best of the New Zealand rural school tradition.
In recognition of the special culture and character of Kaharoa School we worked towards and became the 6th school in New Zealand to be accredited as a Cornerstone Values School. This was awarded by the New Zealand Foundation for Character Education Incorporated in 2004.
Our Building Character through the Cornerstone Values Approach incorporates the following eight values.
Respect
Honesty & Truthfulness
Responsibility
Consideration & Concern
Obedience
Duty
Compassion
Kindness
As a school we focus on one value each term. This value and its definition is taught to the children, promoted and modelled by teachers and parents. Kaharoa aims through values education to help teach children to acquire decision making skills which facilitate the development of moral learning. Values education develops a sense of responsibility in children to face the consequences of their actions and to act with regard to the rights, life and diginity of all persons.
