Ag & Pet Day 2024

Ag Day is an annual event at Kaharoa School and is usually held at the beginning of Term 4. This year we have expanded our usual Ag Day by introducing “Pet Day” which will now take place every even year.

As usual however, if a child comes 1st or 2nd in an event for the lamb or calf section, they are eligible to enter Group Day which will be held on Friday, 25 October 2024 at Ngakuru School. Registration for this event is through our school office. Any child can also enter the open rings on the day with their lambs, kids and calves.

Here are the classes available for our Pet Day:

  • Lamb, Kid, or Calf Classes: Trophies and ribbons will be awarded to the place getters, with the opportunity to represent the school at Group Day the following week. Lambs, kids and calves must be born between 20 July and 25 September 2024.
  • Horse Class for Years 5-8 Students: Certificates will be awarded.
  • Dog Class for Years 5-8 Students: Certificates will be awarded.
  • Open Class: Includes birds, chickens, rabbits, mice, rats, hamsters, etc. Certificates will be awarded.

ONLY ONE ANIMAL PER STUDENT

Registration is open from 8.45am to 9.45am on the day and the children will be issued a registration number. The judges’ briefing is at 9.30am in the staffroom and the event judging commences at 10.00am.

This a fun and exciting event that is enjoyed by the children and it teaches them about looking after something other than themselves.
